As part of Dublin City Council’s ‘Your City, Your Space’ strategy, Capel Street has been transformed into a vibrant, pedestrian-first public realm. The redesign, led by Bernard Seymour Landscape Architects, features a range of bespoke seating and planters. Omos developed BSLA’s concepts into detailed working designs and through to production. The result is a high-quality, tactile and durable suite of urban furniture that prioritises walking, cycling, greenery and social interaction.

The project was officially launched in May 2022 by Lord Mayor Alison Gilliland and Capel Street has become the longest traffic-free street in Dublin.
The public consultation returned overwhelming support for the removal of vehicle traffic from Capel Street – which hosts many popular cafes, pubs and restaurants. The increase in pedestrians and cyclists boosts local business vitality and the open space makes it a better place to live, work, shop and socialise.
