The Docklands is recognised as being the corporate business centre of Dublin city. Located on both sides of the River Liffey, roughly from the Talbot Memorial Bridge eastwards to the 3Arena, the area is home to the Daniel Libeskind designed Bord Gais Energy Theatre and the Kevin Roche designed Convention Centre. North and South quays are connected at the heart of the Docklands by the Samuel Beckett Bridge designed by Santiago Calatrava.

In 2015, Dublin Docklands Development Authority required a tender for new street litter bins that would stay in line with the appearance of the local surroundings. The original cobble paving, old granite quay walls and contemporary architecture creates an environment where heritage and modern living coexist.
The s16.2ss litter satisfies the demands of being aesthetically pleasing while meeting the requirements of easy maintenance for the Dublin City Council.
